NS Design Electric Violins VLNWAV4BK Editorial Review
The NS Design WAV 4 violin is a good value for its price point. It has a nice case with molded compartments for the violin and bow. It is not silent but is kind of quiet without an amp, making it suitable for playing in a hotel room without disturbing the neighbors. The WAV4 compares more favorably to the CR4 than expected from a $600 violin. The CR4 is definitely worth the extra cost if you require greater complexity in tone but the WAV4 works great for heavily bright and electric sounds. The violin comes with a shoulder rest. The older models were made in China and newer models have been manufactured in India with a bit better quality control. Players coming from traditional violins might find it heavier and distracting without the use of a rope loop with a slip knot collar that fastens to the chin rest shoulder thing post which hangs on the chest waiting for the next song.
