While the pump itself is adequate, the suction tube is small and long, which creates a lot of resistance, resulting in a slow transfer rate. However, this can be improved by cutting down the suction tube. The system works better with newer cars that use thinner oil and requires the oil to be at full temperature for optimal performance. One drawback is that the jug does not have the amount marked on its side, making it difficult to verify the amount of oil pulled out of the engine. The pump discharge connection into the tank may also leak if not installed properly, although this is easy to fix.
