    Answer: BasicTalk comes with a full set of features at no extra charge. These include e911, voicemail, caller ID, and call waiting. You can also keep your existing phone number at no extra charge (where available) or get a new one in the area code of your choice.
  • Question: Are there any additional charges besides the monthly fee?

    Answer: Besides the monthly fee of $9.99, there may be applicable taxes and fees. Otherwise, there are no hidden fees or contract associated with BasicTalk.
  • Question: Does Basic Talk work with fax machines?

    Answer: Faxing worked with older HP Officejet 6700. However, Basic Talk specifically states that faxing is not supported.
  • Question: Do you need a computer to set it up?

    Answer: Yes, you need internet access and a smart phone or a computer to set up the service. However, once set up, no computer is required since BasicTalk plugs into the internet router and 110 outlet.
  • Question: When I make a call, will the person receiving the call see my name and phone number on their caller ID?

    Answer: If the person you are calling has the caller ID feature with their phone service, then yes, they will be able to see your BasicTalk phone number when you call them. However, you can disable your own phone number being shown to people you call through your BasicTalk online portal.
  • Question: Can I use my Xfinity phone number with Basic Talk? I have triple play I bought my own modem and it doesn't have a phone jack.

    Answer: Yes, you can use your Xfinity phone number with BasicTalk. You have to call them and follow the directions. You have to keep your current service for about an additional week till BasicTalk ports your current number from Xfinity.
  • Question: Will Basic Talk work with more than one phone in my home?

    Answer: BasicTalk works identical to any RJ11 jack commonly found in any home. It will only generate one line, one dial tone but can be plugged into a phone with many handsets.
  • Question: The instructions say to press a button that isn't on the box. What can I do?
