The Liquitex 5332 Professional Gesso Surface Prep Medium is an excellent product for preparing canvases, especially for paint by number kits. It comes in a white opaque color with a gritty texture that makes it ideal for acrylic paints. This product is not glossy and seals as well as other acrylic mediums. While it can cover mistakes or reuse an already painted canvas, it is not clear and will show the image underneath when painted over. It can also be used to prep metal or wood surfaces for painting, but if used on a wood substrate, it is recommended to wait at least six months before sealing so it can cure. The clear gesso in this product is perfect for Paint By Numbers canvas and gives it a better even coverage. Moreover, the product provides a good grip to the surface, making it ideal for painting. However, the product may not be suitable for everyone as it has a gritty texture, which can be an issue for some artists.
