The ICM Models Battleship SMS Konig Building Kit fills a gap in the market for First World War models. However, the kit reminds the reviewer of older kits from the 80s and 90s by Academy, Airfix, or Italeri. The kit is cast from a soft dark grey styrene and has some difficulties with removing small parts from sprues and sinkholes. The overall lack of fine detail compared to more recent offerings is noticeable. The part fit is not as good as Tamiya's line of 1/350 scale WWII battleships. However, the kit is better than older kits from Academy and Lindberg in terms of flash and mold misalignment. One annoyance with the hull is that the bilge keels are of unequal size. The kit includes a small water-slide decal sheet and a paint guide with Humbrol color numbers. There is no photoetch, anchor chain, or rigging line included. The assembly steps are clear and easy to follow. The kit requires a lot of filling and may not be suitable for beginners. It will take more work than other kits, but it is a good choice for World War I ship models.
