However, it's important to note that the hot plate may struggle with large pressure canners and it's recommended to keep anything over 4-6 quarts of liquid and 1 inch over the size of the element off of the plate. The KR-1 is a single burner, and the KR-S2 hot plate is a double burner. The KR-1 can heat up to about 450 degrees Fahrenheit, but it goes on and off. The unit is not commercial grade, but it's still a reliable option for home use. One customer reported that the KR-1 was slow in heating up and preferred a portable butane stove instead. However, another customer confirmed that they had successfully used a 23-quart Presto canner on the Kr-1 after a few test runs.
