Gates 42293 Premium Engine Water Pump

The Gates 42293 Water Pump has received mixed reviews. The product works well for some customers who have installed it in their vehicles, as it fit perfectly fine on their cars and the metal impeller worked as expected to cool the engine. However, some customers have faced issues with the gasket supplied with the product, as it leaked even on prepped surfaces. They recommend buying a Fel Pro gasket, which is sturdier than the regular paper one. There also have been complaints regarding the fan shroud, which is difficult to remove during installation. A customer suggested leaving the left lower bolt out of the shroud for future ease of access. Also, some customers have reported problems due to a bad angle of the inlet tube hole, which prevented the pump from sitting flush on the block. Returning the product was easy and quick, according to some customers who were satisfied with the company's service. Also, while the manufacturer does not clarify where the product is made, it is known that Gates buys pumps from other manufacturers like GMB, Aisin, Cardone, etc. Overall, the Gates 42293 Water Pump is an affordable option, but customers should be prepared to purchase a better gasket for improved performance and check the quality of the fan shroud and inlet tube before installing the product.
