- Brings the joy of eating back.Food Thickener Precision Active Ingredients:2 Tbsp (8 g): Calories 30; Total Fat 0 g; Sodium 15 mg; Total Carbohydrate 7 g; Protein 0 g; Modified Corn Starch; Maltodextrin Slowly add the recommended amount of THICK-IT to the liquid. Stir briskly with a spoon, fork or whisk until the thickener is dissolved or use hand mixer or blender at low speed for no more than 5-10 seconds. DO NOT OVERMIX. After mixing, wait approximately 30 seconds for the liquid to thicken. ADA EXCHANGES: 2 tablespoons of THICK-IT = 1/2 fruit exchange = 7 g carbohydrates (metabolized like fruit sugar).Uses:THICK IT brings the joy of eating back to people with swallowing problems (called 'Dysphagia'). When mixed with hot or cold, thick or thin liquids and pureed foods, THICK-IT produces any desired consistency quickly, easily and controllably without changing the taste or appearance of the liquids and foods it thickens. THICK-IT adds 30 calories per 2 tablespoons for nourishment and it is low in sodium. It helps prevent dehydration because it does not bind fluids. THICK-IT is recommended by doctors, speech-language pathologists and dietitians for patients in hospitals, nursing homes and rehabilitation facilities as well as at home.
