The Pentek 158117 1/4" #10 Slim Line Clear Filter Housing is a budget-friendly filter that comes with a light blue tint instead of being crystal clear. It was used as a prefilter for a home-made maple syrup making reverse osmosis system and worked perfectly fine, with no leaks even at high pressure. The housing is not standard thread or size, so it was not replaced on an existing RO unit. The installation was fairly easy, and it has been working fine for three years now. The lower cost allows one to filter more water and select different filters as per requirement, which means one does not have to change the filter that often. It can also be used for drying air by adding a tube to the center port, routed to the bottom and filled with desiccant.
