Renegade Game Studios Board Games RGS00877 Editorial Review
**** Renegade Game Studios' "Proving Grounds Solo Hero Series" emerges as a standout solo gaming experience, particularly appealing to those who relish quick-paced, challenging gameplay in a compact time frame. Many customers have praised the game for its engaging mechanics that seamlessly blend strategy with the thrill of rolling dice against a timer. The structured gameplay allows solo players to engage in quick duels that provide a satisfying tension, especially with the inclusion of timed rounds, enhancing the game's excitement. The initial challenges faced by players stem from the original card set included in the first printing, which has been acknowledged as significantly harder than newer versions. However, the availability of a replacement card deck has been a reassuring aspect for players, with many feeling supported by Renegade's customer service throughout the process. Players who embrace the game's inherent difficulty often find themselves drawn into its engrossing battles, while the addition of expansions like Dragonling and Sun/Moon is noted for enhancing replayability and variety. The game's structure delivers a rewarding experience for solo gamers, though understanding and mastering the rules, particularly around rolling sets and the application of the app, is essential to fully appreciate the game’s potential. For those ready to dive into a challenging solo adventure, "Proving Grounds" offers a rich and atmospheric challenge that keeps players coming back for more. **
