While it is designed to be inserted in the tile during installation, it can also be added afterward by cutting out a section of tile. However, please note that this method requires more work. The holder features a 1/4 inch lip on the backside to fit into your tile seamlessly.

However, the unit does have some drawbacks such as the small size which only allows half a roll to fit and the holes for the spindle being too small to accommodate a roll extension.
