Superheroes Editorial Review
**** "Batman: Long Shadows" offers a fresh and invigorating take on the Batman legacy through the lens of Dick Grayson, who takes up the mantle of Batman following Bruce Wayne's demise. The narrative encapsulates Grayson's transition and growth as he adopts his unique approach to crime-fighting, avoiding the darker tones traditionally associated with Batman. This dynamic shift is palpable in the storytelling and illustrated beautifully throughout the graphic novel. Readers are drawn into the emotional depth of the characters, especially the relationship between Dick and Alfred, which adds layers to the narrative that resonate with fans. Alfred’s reflections on Bruce’s absence are insightful, portraying a heartfelt grieving process that deepens the story beyond typical hero-villain interactions. While the rogues, such as Two-Face, may not present new concepts, they are depicted with clever writing that enhances the main storyline. The artwork is another highlight, capturing the energy and tone of the series effectively, particularly Grayson’s more buoyant demeanor compared to Bruce's brooding nature. Overall, "Batman: Long Shadows" is more than just a transition story; it’s a celebration of Grayson’s character and a testament to his worthiness as Batman. While some may desire more originality in plot elements, the overall execution and emotional engagement make it a worthy entry in the Batman saga. **
