This book on Alexander the Great is well-researched and informative, providing good discussions on the various and often conflicting sources on Alexander's life. The book, however, can be verbose and meandering, although this might be due to the complexity of the subject matter. The author, Robin Lane Fox, appears to have a great understanding of ancient warfare strategy and the parallels it has with the present day. The writing is excellent and never intimidating, and it vividly paints a picture of a fascinating and gifted, if complicated, man. The maps in the Kindle application version are difficult to read, and reading Google's information on some of the locations and ancient tribes is advised.
